Advance Notice for Requesting Time Off

We have had a number of people requesting time off who have given less than a weeks notice. We are very flexible and try hard to arrange schedules that work for everyone. And we think you guys do a great job of being flexible by covering open shifts. However, if you give short notice of time needed off (less than 2 weeks) it is your job to find your replacement.  This does not include emergencies or illness.

Included below is a paragraph from the Page Manual that talks about this policy. Definitely let us know that you need the time off and that you are looking for a replacement so we can try and help, but if the schedule has gone out and it's less than 2 weeks away, you should be asking your fellow pages to cover for you or switch a shift with you. And you should inform us of these changes so we can approve them.

Also, we have the vacation request schedule spreadsheet that you should be using. If you don't know how to use it, please let us know. And you can always email us or talk to us directly.

Remember, when you see those requests to switch days, consider helping out, because one day it might be you that needs to make a switch!

We are all here to help each other, to work as a team and to get the job done!!

From the Page Manual
G. Absences
In case of an unplanned absence such as sickness or a family emergency, please call/send email to your supervisor as early in the day as possible. Please try to talk directly with your supervisor. Don't send messages with friends or other pages. Leave messages with desk staff only if you cannot reach your supervisor. If time off is needed, it is your responsibility to switch with another page for that day or be prepared to make up the time lost on another day during the current week or at a time agreed upon by your supervisor.

Questions, suggestions and comments are welcome.
