February 2014 Reminders

While shelving we should never remove bookends!  Instead of removing bookends shift materials.  Shifting makes for neater shelves which not only help patrons find materials but it also makes future shelving quicker and easier.

15 minutes of shelf reading should be part of every shift.

The only materials that should be checked out in the bookdrop room are those for mending(AVFIX, BKMEND or CHMENDPR) and KITS for KIDS(KITS).  NO PERSONAL ITEMS SHOULD BE CHECKED OUT IN THE BOOKDROP ROOM.  If you need to check out materials do so at the Express Check Out machines or at the P.S.Desk.

When you enter your stats. in the Access database please remember to note any time spent in the AMH and the length of your shift.  If you don't know how to do this ask Pam or me.

Thanks you for all your hard work!

Reminder for Adult Bookgroup in a Bag

The "Adult Bookgroups in a Bag" come in purple bags. These bags should be returned to the Fiction Movies and Music Desk. If a patron asks where to return one of these bags, please tell them the FM&M desk. If you're not sure what bag we're talking about, there are a bunch of them across from Pam and Kim's office.

Keep Shelving J-I Holiday Books as Usual

There are still some J-I books in the holiday section (mostly Christmas) that the children's department has not yet changed over. Please continue to shelve them in the holiday collection until the Christmas season is over. They will try to get them changed in January.

If you have questions, please ask Pam or Kim.

No More Cassettes in Children's AV Section

There are no more cassettes in children's. We have posted a new children's AV cart order sheet in the AMH room to reflect this change.  If you have any questions, please ask Kim or Pam.

New Procedure for Non-Fiction AV Carts

We will no longer be delivering the green dot DVDs from the Non-Fiction AV carts to the back room. Please review the below listed procedure and ask questions if you have them.

The Non-Fiction AV carts will continue to have all of the materials checked and locked by first floor pages, with the green dot items being put on the lower shelves of the carts. The carts will be delivered into the queue upstairs, but the green dot DVDs will remain on the lower shelves of the carts for the second floor pages to sort onto the appropriate shelves.

Before you take any carts upstairs, please double check to make sure there are no materials on the carts that should not be on the carts, that all the materials are in the proper place, and that any items that should be locked are locked.
