Is LAS the New Skynet?

Apparently the LAS, after a recent upgrade, has decided to capture some LAS holds by itself. Now when a patron puts a DVD on hold if it is in one of the LAS shelves it will capture the hold and send an e-mail to the patron telling them that it is available to pick up. Just be aware that if a circulation staff person comes back to look for a hold it might still be in the LAS. Is this the beginning of artificial intelligence? I don't know. All I know is I don't think I'll turn my back on the LAS without some trepidation.
