1. Always check out your library materials at the Self Checks in the public
area or have them checked out for you by staff at the P.S. Service Desk. The
only things that should be checked out in the bookdrop room are items that are
being checked out to Kits for Kids, AVFIX, or book mending. Not even Andy Stehr
checks out materials in the bookdrop room.
2. When filling the LAS always fill the Quick Flicks first. QFs are in
high demand and they are the items asked for the most at the Fiction Movies and
Music Desk. We need to give good customer service not only to out external
customers, our patrons, but also to our internal customers, library staff
members who are assisting our patrons. This is how we get items into our
patrons hands the quickest and most efficiently!
3. With the YA area moving down to Children's you will be seeing many
changes. One of these changes we are going to start right now, when a YA book
needs mending please check it out to the Child Mending Print cart(CHMENDPR) not
the Adult mending and put it on the Children's mending shelf.
4. Non-Fiction carts; when loading non-fiction book carts in the AMH room,
go ahead and take that cart upstairs right away and retrieve any empty carts
while up there. Also remember to check the Return to First Floor shelf and
bring those materials downstairs and run them through the AMH. When loading
Non-Fiction AV carts put where we normally do while they are waiting to be
checked and put the "Highest Priority" sign on them. The next person coming to
get a cart to shelve should then check and lock the NF AV cart and take it
upstairs. It is very important to get these items upstairs as quick as we can,
it's us giving good customer service and we keep the bookdrop room more
organized and easier to navigate.
I have more reminders but I'll save them for next week.
Thank you for all you do! The library could not run without
shelvers!!
